Meet Miss Sophie Lovett

Head Teacher, Owner & Athlete | AAC, AF, TCD

Sophie Lovett has spent her entire life dancing, first enrolling at two-years-old. By the time she started school, she had already showed promise in both dance and soccer, and seemed determined to become a gifted multi-sport athlete. Eventually her competitive spirit and physical talents led Sophie to join school and club volleyball, as well as her school’s basketball team, adding to her already rigorous schedule. By her thirteenth birthday, Sophie had won bronze with her BC Soccer Provincial team, but found that her heart only had space for one love; dance.

For the next six years, Sophie honed her skills in as many forms of dance as possible – including acro, jazz, tap, ballet, pointe, hip-hop, lyrical and contemporary dance. Whether performing a Spanish style of the Nutcracker or competing throughout BC and even in Mexico, Sophie shined on the stage. Aside from her skills as an athlete, Sophie began to develop her approach as a teacher and mentor to younger dancers. Her aptitude for teaching and love of her students eventually caught the eye of Kelly Mykyte, the owner of Krush Dance, who hired her on as a part-time, then full-time, teacher.

In the Summer of 2023, Sophie finally accepted Kelly’s persistent offers to fill the space that would be left after Mykyte relocated Krush Dance to Invermere. At only nineteen-years-old, Sophie Lovett started her own dance company: Lovett Dance.

Miss Sophie is a well rounded, highly trained, and professional teacher. She is very respectful and responsible with her time. She nurtures each student to become the best dancer they can be. She is highly organized and well loved by everyone she meets. Working with Sophie has been a fantastic experience

Team Canada World Champion

Representing Canada at the first IDO World Acrobatic Championships in 2023

Following her audition in March 2022, Sophie called her mom to let her know not to get her hopes up. The auditions had no shortage of talented dancers flexing their skills for a spot on Team Canada’s 2023 Adult Acro Team, and Sophie was sure she hadn’t made the cut. Two months later, she was shocked to learn that she had made the roster and would be sharing the stage with several of those same dancers. More shock would follow when the next summer, Sophie and her team celebrated two wins, making them the first IDO World Acrobatic Champions.

Kind, patient & professional

Words can’t express how well Miss Sophie is with my girls and all the students. She is supportive and kind but also knows just how much to push them and of course how to motivate them! She has a love and wealth of knowledge about dance which resonates in her students.

Phenomenal Teacher

All 3 of my children had the privilege to experience Miss Sophie’s teaching at Krush Dance Studio in Ashcroft. Sophie creates a magical space full of joy and laughter, bringing enthusiasm for the art form and sincere consideration for the needs of each individual child. She has the innate ability to both challenge and positively encourage my children to improve their performance as well as expand their own artistic ideas. Because of her patience, dedication, and instruction, my children have experienced significant growth as dancers.
